I plan on leaving Ko Phenang to go to another Island called Khrabi and then maybe Ko Tao or Phukett. After christmas I will be coming back to Ko Phenang to be here for a few days before the Big New Year’s Party. I will be at a pool party at the expensive hotel I stayed when I was first here… then I will be going to a few other parties throughout the night.

Life is Goood

Posted by admin on Dec 11th, 2006

Today is a bit overcast, but it feels good and I am wearing my jeans for only the 2nd time. I am just hanging at the resort playing a guitar from a guy that works here, watching tv, and pretty much just relaxing.

I may take a ride on my motor scooter to a place a bit more up north and take some good pictures…. it is very remote there, they turn off the power at 12am… supposedly this area has great diving.

Life is good in Thailand……

Ko Phenang Part 2

Posted by admin on Dec 10th, 2006

Yesterday I checked out of my resort and into another one for a fraction of the price with a way better view and feel to the place. I am right on the beach in front of where the waves come in which is nearly 5 feet away. The 1st place I stayed cost about $50 a night and it was a luxury resort. Now I am staying at a nice place as far as view and area (not very busy) and it cost me $5.75 a night with a big bed my own bathroom that is not mechanical… you just pour water down it from a bucket to flush it out…. and it has a shower with only cold water which doesn’t matter because its 90 degrees and a shower is a must at least twice a day.

I am having such a great time, as each day passes the thought passes my mind about staying here for a long time. They have no one to fix computers and I could help a lot of people out and make a living very easily. I have to think about that for the next 3 weeks that I will be here. I have enough savings now to live for a year like a king so I could survive just on that alone for a few years.

Nothing is definite… I am just going with the flow, but I really found a place I love for many reasons. Great people…. great views…. great food…. there is really nothing bad here that I have encountered so far. I like America but Thailand is quite awesome!!

Attached is a view from my new room :)

Talk to ya l8tr,

Rob

I actually wrote this already but when I was waiting to attach a few pics someone sat down and closed it.

Well, anyway to recap my day started off by hearing what I thought was rain, but when I looked out my window I saw it was clear sunny skies. The noise I was hearing for hours was the ocean water coming in on the beach… my bungalow is right on the ocean literally 5 feet from the water. I paid way less for this place but in terms of location I like it a lot more, because it is right on the beach in a remote part of town. Everyone is really nice and my room which I booked at 12am looked way better in the morning when I looked out my window which I will show you in an attachment. I paid $4.25 a night for my room… the 1st place I had was $50 a night.

Today I went cruising around with a freind I made who is traveling alone so we rode up the coast to a more expensive area and laid on the beach for a while. My dinner was at my favorite bar/restaurant on top of a hill… the sunsets there are unreal as you will see in the 2nd pic.

I am just hanging out at the resort right now before heading out for some fun somewhere. I can’t say enough how much I am enoying this trip and island. I already had 2 computer jobs but didn’t have enough tools to fix the problem as far as software.

Life is good I really can’t ask for anything more now because I feel like I have it great here…. except for the heat which is bearable but still hot.

See Ya,

Rob

Why on earth I would have gone here in the 1st place

Here are a couple pictures to show why on earth I would have gone here in the 1st place and why I am staying longer….. everyday I make a new friend to explore with and talk to from all over the world.

Checking out of my Luxury Beach Resort

Posted by admin on Dec 8th, 2006

Today I am checking out of my Luxury Beach Resort and going to a similar place as far as luxury but for way cheaper. Monday or Tuesday I am heading to another Island called Ko Tao to check out what is there and do more great things.

I am having such a great time I have decided to extend my stay until Jan 2nd for 11 more days so I can spend New Year’s in Thailand. So, Jeff Howson please ask Mike to respond to my email so I can work that out for the last days of the month that I won’t be at work… it is mostly holidays for Christamas and New Year’s so I doubt it should be a problem if it is I can take sick days… vacation fro next year… or time off with no pay. Just let me know if I still have a job because if not I will just stay here forever!!

I will catch you up on my happenings in my digital journal that I haven’t been able to update in the past few days…. I haven’t even been here 1 week and it seems like a long time but the best time of my life so I hope it seems long for the next 3 weeks!!

Talk to ya l8tr,

Rob

Ko Phenang

Posted by admin on Dec 5th, 2006

I just arrived in Ko Phenang today around 2pm after a long journey on a train (12hrs) there was a bed on it and after a very large Heinekin beer and talking with other travelers I got what was the best sleep so far in Thailand. The seats turn into a bed… there is a top and a bottom. I was on the top of course because I like to be in control…lol just kidding there was an older woman below me and I let her take the bottom bed :) I went to sleep at 12pm and woke up around 5:30 that is the most I slept in 3 days.

I met quite a few people on the train… 2 girls from London…. a couple from Australia… a Buddhist Monk around 10 years old… and some others. Most of the people were coming to Ko Phenang for the Full-Moon Festival like me. More info later as now I have a decent place to use a computer and will send my digital diary I have been keeping.

Lots of love and kisses to everyone except the men of course… well ok I can kiss my Dad I think that is ok…lol

Do you really want to read my first day in Bangkok

Posted by admin on Dec 5th, 2006

Day 1:

Well, the day started out great… I got a whopping 2 hrs sleep after waiting until the last minute to pack up my gear for my trip to the other side of the world. I got everything packed into a small suitcase more than I really need but I figured better to have it than worry about having to find something in my travels.

My Dad got to my house earlier than the 6am time we discussed, I finished up getting ready and we were off to the airport. We got to the airport in no time at all even driving at a meager 55-60mph (what can you do he is in his golden years and really isn’t in a hurry to get anywhere plus there was traffic).

I checked in quickly and proceeded to Burger King for my gourmet breakfast, I look down on the ground as I get to the counter and see $5 on the floor… woo hoo free breakfast for me!! I find money every now and then, so I always look on the ground as I wait. All is good… fast check-in, free breakfast, then I get a call from my Dad who says “I hear there is bad weather in Chicago” I say “well I checked in so I am good to go (so I thought). I get a call from Orbitz telling me my 1st flight to Chicago was cancelled… here is where it starts to go down hill.
